Country Kitchen Furniture

Picture this: it’s a long Easter weekend and your friends born and bred in the city have decided to accompany you to your country-side for a relaxing and nice time away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is most likely that they will be amazed at the green nature of the rural area on the drive there, but when they get home, the most intriguing thing for them to find other than the aura of farm life, would be a homely country kitchen where they can chrism the moments that they sit around the warm fire place and tell of stories from good old times.

More often than not, it is wood of different shape, texture, grain and size that will make most furniture and add a natural looking, real traditional, nostalgic charm to the country kitchen making it even more rural and warmer.

Most country kitchens with wooden furniture, walls, cabinets, floors, coffee tables, shelves, chairs, stools, don’t wear off easily. As a matter of fact, they seem to ‘get better’ with age, just like wine. The rough-around-the-edges wooden furniture seems to have more aesthetic value as they become older and older. Interestingly enough, some of the most appealing qualities of a country kitchen with rustic furniture are the aged, jagged unfinished look in the natural woods

Different types of wood add a different type of texture and feel to the whole country kitchen experience. A little bit of oak on the stools, mixed with a portion of pine on the chairs, and a bit of maple of alder on the cabinet will make the traditional feel of the kitchen even richer.

Such a kitchen would even be better if had genuine wooden floors with no glossy varnishes. To accessorize the ambience further, hand painted wall hangings on wooden frames and antique photos to bring memories of years gone by would be just perfect. Your home away from home experience will be completed if the serving dishes, cutlery and cooking items like pots are stored in rusty looking cabinets.

Different countryside enthusiasts have found that it’s possible to bring out the very best in their furniture. They can do this by paint-brushing on it, then rubbing off most of the paint before unevenly re-applying on the dry surface, some wood satin. This brings about a weathered that is really catchy to the lazy eye.
