If you think that kitchen tiles were out of season, then you are wrong. They were only getting better with time; and today, they are the most efficient pieces of work that you can ever find in the market to fit in as your kitchen backsplash. Tiles are waterproof and to be frank, they last longer than the more popular stainless steel or glass backsplashes which might fade away with time, but not tiles. Kitchen tile backsplash has a long life and it is fairly easy to install. The best thing so far is that to keep them clean, you only need water and soap, and a clean rag and they are as good as new.

The color of your tiles should be selected to match with the walls and the floor or at the same time, crash lightly with the surroundings to appear more aesthetic. Whatever color you decide on, let it not be white because this will reflect badly once the lights are put on, and the dirt spots from the oil, fat and the water will show clearly. Consider brown or slightly darkish colors as these are more likely not to show the dirt water and oil splashes. To give off the best effect, get the small sized tiles instead of the normal sized 6 x 6 inches. If you get the smaller 2 x 2 inch varieties, they will show more style and quality. These will be accompanied by tools like the trowel, a basin, spirit level, tape measure and others as the job may demand. The section that you want to tile may require a bit of hacking making it rough enough to hold tight to the cement paste or mortar that you will use to fix the tiles. Start from one end of the section so that the tiles will go along one line. This job calls for patience and you had better not be in a hurry to complete it. One badly done tile may cause all the others to appear poorly done, and therefore might down play on your work. Should it come out alright then you can be assured of the best eye catching feature in the house. Seal the tile joint and outer edges with tile grout or the sealant silicone gum. You will find a tile backsplash far much cheaper than glass or steel varieties.
