Small Kitchen Unit

Ever thought of creating a custom made kitchen unit out of a small studio apartment? Or better still converting an old bedroom into a small kitchen? Believe me, many a times these thoughts may have crossed you. You are not alone! In the 21st century, the small kitchen unit is the best way to go!

Recently I converted one of my old bedrooms into a small kitchen. This was a new experience for me but very enjoyable. Of interest, in the process I learnt a lot of what would be suitable for this kind of space. Some key aspects that are great for consideration was a small kitchen sink, small kitchen oven, compact sets of small kitchen units. To avoid disappointment, measure your current space to gauge exactly what you are working with. This will give you a great sense of direction with this project.

Small kitchen units come with a variety of designs, however two options stick in my mind. One option was the self contained kitchen unit. It is a four in one combination i.e. sink, 2 hobs, a fridge and storage space. These are very popular and the best solution for a small kitchen. The other option was to purchase normal kitchen units especially when you buy from a sale or even second hand from garage sales hence costing less. Many people like to dispose off their old units, use this opportunity to get you the best bargain!

However, both options have both pros and cons. The first option is a compact unit; you buy it and you have everything you want in a kitchen – complete and intact. However, it is an expensive option because of its unique nature. Limited units with limited design and color range; hence inhibiting your personal design, taste and preference.

The second option works out financially, it’s a less expensive option but may take a longer duration to find a suitable size, quality and design for your small kitchen. It may pose to be a tiring experience because all pieces have to be sought for by you and then put together by yourself. For example, you will need to purchase the individual kitchen counter separate from the kitchen sink and put them together. May take a longer duration to complete your kitchen but as they say, patience pays!

Yes, it is possible to enjoy a small kitchen with all the luxuries of a large kitchen especially with the use of small kitchen units!
