Led Light Bulbs

The concept of light emitting diodes (led) is common in everyday life. However, most people would admit not to have ever seen one in use. The use of this technology has been in existence in almost all your home appliances. Take for instance, a television set or iron box; there are some light warnings that are present to tell when the power is on or not. It is mostly reddish light. Well, that is what we call a light emitting diode. The only difference from large led lights bulbs is that they are a miniaturized version.

How do they work? Well, the notion adopted in all lighting material is that they burn up and produce light energy. Initial designs of light bulbs were similar to the way fire burns to produce light to the surrounding. However, the led bulbs do not use such principle; their mechanism involves electrons which are used to provide an illumination. Therefore, this automatically concludes that they are not prone to overheating or heating for that matter.

The following are the advantages of light emitting diode bulbs:

1. Cheap during its lifetime use

Due to energy conservation, the prolonged use will save you several dollars that would have otherwise been wasted in paying electricity bills.

2. No heat production

The fact that they do not heat means they are very applicable in places that need cool temperatures. Discothèques will be one of the most applicable areas for its use. You must have visited a supermarket and seen the bulbs in refrigerated appliances. If the bulbs were to be the normal incandescent type, then the refrigeration will barely take place due to heat production. Therefore, it also uses led bulb concept to light up the fridge compartments.

3. long lasting

By long lasting, it means in both time and strength. Led is not brittle as the normal bulbs; a fall or mishandling will not necessarily end in a spoilt bulb. Similarly, they can be used for more than 9 years without a need for replacement.

Well, the government and environmental agencies do advocate for its use and have tried to make it popular. Despite all these, more that half of the households still use the old inefficient incandescent bulbs. You may wonder why despite these benefits why led ones are still unpopular in lighting up homes. This brings us to the greatest drawback: they are expensive. It is estimated that an initial buy will cost around 40 dollars or more in installations. Also, it will need additional electrical components before a successful installation is ready for use. This is an amount that no one is ready to part with yet, even with the promise of a better future.
