Ever since the invention of the regular incandescence light bulb, there has been constant development in this field. More varieties of different kinds of bulbs are constantly being manufactures for use in homes, offices, fancy restaurants, etc...Bulbs are no longer made only keeping in mind the functional purpose of light; they are being made for ornamental purposes as well. These specialty bulbs are mainly for lighting up huge areas for special occasions. The area of specialty bulbs is vast.

Specialty bulbs come under specialty lighting which is a different branch of the field of lighting. There are various applications of specialty lights. They can be used in greenhouses, for commercial fixtures, in reef aquariums, flood lights and even entry and exit signs. There are general purpose specialty lights like colored light bulbs, decorative bulbs, compact fluorescents, European lamps, HID lamps, Halogen lamps, and LED bulbs…

Another application of specialty lights are the ones that are used for graphic arts. Some examples of these are plate burner lamps, scanner lamps, and camera lamps. There are other fields that use specialty lights as well. Like medicine and science. Few applications of specialty lights in medical and scientific fields are microscope lamps, diagnostic lamps, optical lamps, dental lamps, surgical lamps, infra red lamps, germicidal lamps etc… There are other kinds of specialty lights like sealed beams, aircraft lamps, landscape lamps, low voltage lamps, projector lamps, metal halide lamps, and even sign lamps.

There are other specialty lights also which are used very commonly, like, photographic bulbs, railway light bulbs, and automotive LED bulbs which are all from different fields and which last for a very long time and are worth the buy!

The projector light bulbs are used for business or even personal purposes to illuminate the projectors. There is another application, that of a tanning light bulb, which functions similar to a full spectrum bulb in order to give light of high intensity. These tanning bulbs emit ultraviolet A and B that is used to tan the complexion. There are other specialty products such as photofloods, full spectrum bulbs, neodymium, lumiline, linestra, LED bulbs, metal halide, mercury vapor bulbs, high pressure sodium bulbs etc… Companies who deal in specialty light bulbs are Osram, GE, Philips, TCP, Bulbrite, and Sylvania. With the invention of specialty bulbs the use of lighting has become even more innovative and fancy. People can use these bulbs in the way that appeals to them.
