Diy Kitchen Cabinets

Do we have any other three letters of the alphabet that are so magical? Diy means that as well as doing what you like doing best, that is customizing your home to your taste and fashion, you can also get to save some money while you do it.

The good thing today is that you can buy the unfinished kitchen cabinets and do the polishing touches while you outfit them in your kitchen. Today, the manufacturers of the kitchen cabinets have realized that it is well impossible to be able to come up with a finished kitchen cabinet that will please everyone entirely.

Therefore, they create some space for the die hard customers who might spend a lifetime looking for the perfect furniture that fits their kitchen exactly to their desires, by leaving off the job at some point for the buyer to finish off. These types of furniture come in disassembled pieces that are not painted or sanded so that you can polish them up any way you like. Their advantage is that they are way cheap and might end up, costing you far less even when you add the finishing costs, than the duly finished kitchen cabinets.

Before you embark on a task to install up your diy kitchen cabinets, there are some things that you need to put in place first. You will need:

Nails of the correct size

Electric hand drill

Bits

Hammer and tape measure

Screw drivers

The drill and the bits are to be used only if you want to support your kitchen cabinets with brackets, which is recommended, because they will carry quite a weight of all that food and dishes. It is a job that might require you to do it in your vacations or on a weekend because it could take even three days. Start with the sides first and screw them tight on to the walls. Use a spirit level and a tape measure to make sure that they flow along one line and that they do not bend; failure to which, the doors won’t fit.

You may have to use a hammer here and there to straighten it out. The sides can be nailed together by using small sized nails or panel pins that will sink into the wood without leaving any trace. Then when you fix the doors, start by first fixing the hinges to the cabinet, and then screw the doors on. You should find the job easy, even though it will require a lot of patience.
