This gives them possession of all the details required. However they have a very limited time to use the details before the customer finds the card missing. Therefore many thieves find it easier to duplicate customer’s cards as it gives them more time. Methods by which this can be protected is by giving the bank your mobile number and join the program where you are informed of every purchase made on your card. This way you are informed of every purchase and you will know immediately if your card is being misused. Hence making you feel a lot more secure.

Another method of online fraud is identity theft. This is where a customer’s details are used to issue credit cards which are misused. Here the banks that don’t check their customers background to verify that they are the right customers. This way thieves have access to credit card and buy huge amounts of money and buy lots of things but don’t pay for them. In this case it is not only a theft of the credit card but an identity theft. With the awareness of these kinds of frauds the police have set up certain departments to help curb such acts making it safer for both merchants and consumers.
