Heavy Equipment Tractor

Heavy equipment tractors are of varied types and uses. They are used in building construction cites, they are used in road construction, farming, excavation for cabling, and mining among others. Heavy Equipment tractor manufacturers are equally many but Caterpillar and John Deere are among the oldest and widely used though this is by no means to say they are best since there are European manufacturers like French and German firms producing good quality equipment. In Asia Japanese companies like Komatsu and Korean companies like Hyundai are producing heavy equipment tractors which are used widely around the world.

Heavy equipment tractors require special maintenance tools and special training both to handle and maintain. Even though they may use conventional technologies used in smaller vehicles, there handling of heavy loads require extra care as simple mistakes can lead to fatalities and property damages. Since their components are heavy, they also require specially developed tools to handle their repairs in workshops. Their maintenance schedules is largely based on operating time as they travel less distances unless when moving from one site to the next.

The maintenance services often do not involve replacing many parts except those to do with oil and fuel systems and the air filters. One particularly vulnerable component in such equipment are the flexible tubes which transmit high pressures and act as muscles. Once a hose pipe breaks or leaks the compression energy is lost and the equipment can not lift anything heavy or perform a heavy duty. They also use compression oils which are not used in other vehicles.

Heavy equipment tractors often take the form of forklifts, payloaders, excavators, crawlers, haulers among others. The tractors are often designed to multifunction with various equipments being mounted for specific purposes. It is for instance common to find a tractor that is used to excavate being fitted with a broom to sweep large compounds. The need for multifunctionality is necessitated by the fact that they are costly to keep idle.

In farming, one tractor may be fitted with different tools to enable them perform different functions at different times. One tractor can act as air seeder, planter, harrow and plough at different times as may be necessary.

Heavy equipment tractors are almost always diesel engines since this is the cheapest fuel for their high energy requirements. The diesel operated tractors are heavy polluters and require oil and air filters changed regularly. Failure to change oil filter in time may cause inefficiencies and higher running costs. Clogged air filters do not allow engines to breathe efficiently and leads to operational wastages.
