A timer is said to act as a trigger to various industrial processes. In some industries, instead of timers, counters are put to use. These counters act as triggering devices for a control system.

For example, in a system where the operating parameters are in analog form, it is not of much use because computers use digital signals for calculations. For this purpose, these analog signals have to be converted into digital signals. This is the main job of a signal converter.

There are times when a parameter has to be varied depending upon the requirements. The industrial control equipment used for this purpose is programmable relay equipment. For example, on some days you will need a particular number of products to be manufactured and on some other days you will need a different number of products. This can be done with the use of programmable relays.

All these equipments are of extreme complexity and needs professionals to do proper set up. Due to the various advantages of industrial automation, most industrialists are looking for automation specialists. This has also increased the demand for industrial control equipments to a large extent which has made their cost affordable.
