Asian Kitchen Design

Asian kitchens are symmetrically designed and graceful. Its vibrant colors, sleek style and simple yet bold lines have inspired people of the other continents. Asian kitchen designs create the right set up to make cooking an enjoyable experience. If you are trying to experiment with style ensure that you use the right colors and material for the décor.

Some popular countries of Asia are China, Japan, India, Singapore and Malaysia. The kitchen design of homeowners here is done in a particular style.

Bamboo plants play a significant role in the Chinese culture. To create an Asian feel in the kitchen, use bamboo plant either over the sink or on one of the cabinets. Silk which is a popular fabric of Asia can be used for the kitchen curtain. Beautiful prints of silk can be hung over the walls of the kitchen too. Dark-colored silk material can be cut used as mats, table cloths and as coasters.

Steel, brass and copper are popular metals used in making utensils in Asia especially in the Indian peninsula. Steel especially is commonly used in each and every household of India. It is used not only in the making of utensils but for making stoves, refrigerators, sinks and ovens too. Being rust proof it can be cleaned easily off oil and stains just with soap and water. You may also use chrome (which looks similar to steel) for door knobs and drawer pulls. It is the gleam of steel and chrome that bring about that balance to the kitchen décor.

Asians generally like their kitchen to be vibrant. White, red, dark brown, yellow, blue or a combination of two contrast colors are used in Asian kitchens. Silver is soothing to the eye. With chrome material pots, pans and utensils and dark colored kitchen cabinets, the kitchen is bound to look attractive. To neutralize the color you can display some plants in the kitchen as well. Flowers or an assortment of fruits placed in large fruit bowl will make the kitchen look great.

Also use some native tools or ingredients to compliment the theme. Chopsticks, Thai toothpicks, spices stored in small bottles in a row, rice chests and ceramic jars and pots will make the kitchen look aesthetically appealing.

Mixing themes of two different Asian cultures is not a bad idea either. Importantly, keep the kitchen clean and tidy. An untidy and messy kitchen will lose its charm no matter what theme, color and décor you use.
