In the current days of trendy things nothing is left behind when it comes to stylish and designer look is concerned. The same applies to kitchen very well with lot of youngsters going in for a different look and themes. One of the very old but still very popular themes is black and white kitchen. In any kind of house the kitchen is one of the most important rooms not only appeal wise but also function wise.

In black and white room the walls should be kept light colour or white colour. This will not only make the room open but also bigger. It gives a more spacious look. Some kind of mix match on the wall keeping white as a base or main colour should be kept in mind. Lot of people prefer giving some kind of pattern like shapes, cheques, stripes, etc to the wall which makes it look interesting and not boring. Some people go for weird ideas also like zigzag lines or something like found on zebra. It all depends on how daring you are to use weird things like these.

Keeping up with the light walls should be dark colour furniture or accessories. The storage cabinets, utensils, electronic items, vessels, washing sinks, etc which are used on day to day basis can be either black colour or may be a combination of black and stainless steel or graphite colour also. There are lot finishes available these days like matte, glossy, paint which can directly or indirectly match the light walls and can give a reasonable appeal to the kitchen on the whole. Generally a black and white kitchen combination is considered basic and doesn’t cost that much also.

Modern day kitchens also have art works or artefacts which are used for decoration purposes. Nice and good art works are easily available because of increase in the number of shops in market. Adding slight colour to the black and white theme doesn’t harm the look but enhances only. Using red accents or blue lines definitely has proved much better. The flooring can be made from tiles of dark colour with walls of white colour which gives a retro style. Also, sometimes the chequered look with black and white looks awesome on the floorings. It is kind of tried and tested theme which has proved quite successful in the recent times. Black and white has always been classical choice and it is like forever types.
