White shades were considered as classic in the late 90’s. But nowadays the black and white combo has become a hit everywhere. Starting from interior designing, bathrooms, living rooms it has also taken toll on kitchens. Black and white gives a classic as well as retro look to the kitchen area. In most of the households the cabinets are in shades of white or any other pastel shades. If you have appliances which are mostly black in colour then you can keep your white coloured cabinets so that there is a contrast between the black appliances and white cabinets. On the other hand you can go for white colour appliances and go for glossy black cabinets. Cabinet surfaces are not used hence going for glossy shades is a wise choice.

The next thing you can concentrate on is the floor which is quite obvious when it comes to black and white designs. There are lots of ways you can use black and white in the kitchen floor. You can go for checked floors or any other kind of designs. If you feel comfortable with wooden floors then you can go for dark coloured wooden floor boards so that it doesn’t hinder the effect of the combo. Or another good idea is to cover up the area which is least used using a black and white designed rug.

Counter tops is also an area which can be either black or white. You can compliment it with the appliances rather than going for the same colour. And when it comes to sinks and water outlets you can go for black metallic shades this will give a different look to the kitchen. Lighting is very important when you go for black and white design as you need to illuminate the areas which are in black. This will make the kitchen look bright and enhance the black and white designing. You can also go for chandeliers with black and white crystals in the centre of the kitchen ceiling to give an elegant touch. Shades of red can also be incorporated to give a retro look, as red goes along with black and white pretty well.
