Never use dark colored tile for either the kitchen or the bathroom. Black and royal blue are very elegant colors but they will also show traces of soap residual. The residuals can leave such an unpleasant sight. It is hard to clean off the soap after it has hardened onto the surface. Since you are not assured that the surfaces will be washed off every time they are used, it will be safe to stick to the lighter colors.

If you have a small bathroom, you can make it look bigger by placing a big mirror above the sink. If the mirror is placed on one of the bathrooms wall, it will also serve the same function. The kitchen can also have a mirror but it will not help it look bigger. When you are placing a mirror in the kitchen, it should be opposite a window; the light reflected off the mirror will lighten up the kitchen.

Those people who are fond of plants can improve the appearance of their house using indoor plants. Make sure that the plants you use for the kitchen or bathroom are small potted ones. The plants will liven up the room.

You can never have enough metals in either of the rooms. With every opportunity you get, make sure you use stainless steel, wrought iron and other exotic metals. The presence of metallic components in your rooms will create an interesting aura to the room.

Those people who have shelved kitchens can use them to arrange some of the interesting pieces on. If the arrangement is carried out well, the room will look more attractive. You can always change the look of your house to match certain holidays. The holiday mood will be magnified if your house is set to match to the occasion.
