The countertops, walls and cabinets are not the only parts of the kitchen that need a once in a while remodeling; the floors are just an integral part of the kitchen as are the rest. You need to have kitchen design floor plans for your kitchen. Make a virtual design of the whole kitchen and incorporate your ideas. The floor plans are going to depend on the design of the kitchen during the construction. This is influenced by the size of home you are constructing and the resultant size of the kitchen. So how many other dynamics come in like the functions of the kitchen? You should be able to answer some of these questions before construction. Will I need furniture in the kitchen? Will the kitchen also be a mini dining area? What kind of space I’m I going to need? What amount of cooking I’m going to perform in the kitchen? After this, you will have made a decision as to the floor plan which is unlikely to change even in a kitchen overhaul.

The kitchen floor plans should fit all the items in the kitchen. The sink, the fridge and the countertops are the main items we think of while we refer to the kitchen floor plan. These three have to be interconnected so that working with them is not hard. The kitchen cabinets are supposed to fit in all the remainder spaces. The basic kitchen floor plans fall into five categories: corridor plan, straight or I plan, L plan, G plan and U plan.

In the straight or I plan, all the three are against the length of the wall. In the corridor plan, the working surfaces are distributed along both lengths of the kitchen. As for the L and U shaped kitchen, the items in the kitchen form the L and U shapes respectively. The G shaped kitchen is used in commercial setting especially in restaurant kitchens. It is the floor plan with maximum space. Basically, it is a U-shaped kitchen that has a working surface in the middle as well, which forms the G shape. This is ideal in a busy setting as is provides a large working surface. It provides extra storage space as well. There are some homes that have this countertop which can be used for dining. Add some bar stool and chair and you have a mini dining space. Your kids can use this surface to do their homework while you cook and check up on their progress.
