Metal Dining Chairs

Metal dining chairs are generally used on the outside of the home as patio or lawn furniture. This furniture isn’t totally ornamental however. In many areas the patio or lawn is where many of the means are enjoyed, especially in tropical or subtropical climates. If someone has this type of furniture it is usually heavily used and will need care.

Metal furniture of any kind is subject to corrosion from as little moisture as the humidity in the air. If the furniture is outside also the damage will be much more intense and the deterioration much faster if you don’t take care of your investment.

Taking care of metal dining chairs isn’t that hard. The first thing to remember is that daily basic cleaning is necessary. Just wiping it down with a soapy cloth and then rinse clothe will keep it new looking for a long time.

Your medal dining chairs will need priming and painting from time to time. Usually about once a year, if you live in humid climates. In order to prime and paint your metal dining room chairs, you have to first remove the padded seats from the frame. Clean them with hot water and soap and set them in a clean spot.

Once you have removed the padded seat and backrest, Use sand paper to remove all of the old paint and get rid of any current rust. You will need a paint brush and a can of primer with rust protector in it. Spread a good coat on and allow an hour or so for it to dry.

Now get your paint ready and apply it to your frame. It is best to do at least two coats, letting the first dry completely before applying the second, especially if you want your furniture to have a deep luster. This works better with darker with darker colors how ever.

Now that the paint has dried completely, reattach your padded seat and backrest, making sure that all the bolts are secured well into the frame.

If you don’t want to paint your metal dining chair yourself you can always hire a painter to do it for you or there are several large home improvement stores that will paint lawn furniture. Your last option is to bring your furniture to an auto paint shop.
