Film Production Equipments

Film production is one of the fastest growing multi-billion businesses in America today. With an audience that is always eager to check out a new movie, film producers have to up their game to ensure they give their audience only the best in the shortest possible time frame. Apart from the scriptwriters, actors, directors and the rest of the crew, a good movie entails having quality film production equipment.

The current trend of 3Dmovies (like James Crimson’s Avatar’) has taken the movie industry by storm. 3D movies bring the characters ‘out of the screen’ and make them appear as life forms. The movies are watched using special glasses that make the audience feel like they are themselves actually in the movie. To create the 1 hour of a good 3D movie, the production team has to work tirelessly for months.

There is a new camera gear that Digital light processing (DLP) of Texas instruments and Kener Opticals formerly LucasFilms effects studios, are using to create 3D movies. This film production equipment is believed to be what will take film production of 3D movies to the next level. It has two cameras; one facing horizontally straight and the other vertically down. There is a mirror between these two cameras placed at an angle of 45 degrees. The mirror directs the image from the camera facing down to the horizontal one creating a 3D effect.

The horizontal camera is made in such a way that it moves from side to side, creating a variation in the 3D effect’s intensity. With the help of polarized glasses, the images appear in 3D form.

Getting 3D movies that moviegoers can enjoy without necessarily having to wear glasses is a working process. Many moviegoers complain of getting motion sickness when watching 3D on the big screen.

A recent survey in California revealed that moviegoers who suffer from sea sickness and other kinds of motion sickness are the most likely to feel queasiness when watching or after watching a 3D movie. With a great number of epic 3D movies lined up to start showing in the recent future, these moviegoers are in dire need of a solution to their problem. 3D movies can now be found in Blu-ray and DVDs; in other words, soon it will be the only popular mode of film production.

Dr Richard Isaacs who is a surgeon and an otolaryngologist at Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento says this feeling is brought about by confusion between the body and the mind. The mind sees that you are moving but the body is not in motion, hence the feeling of sickness.
