Hospital Equipment Supplies

To be able to perform the function it does, a hospital needs to have several equipments to carry out its activities. This means that a hospital has to have the necessary equipment to treat its patients. The hospital equipments come in a wide range and they are used to treat patients in the hospitals. All the equipments used in there are of two types; diagnostic and beneficial equipment, all which have to be supplied to hospitals.

The diagnostic equipments are the one that are used to determine the extent of a disease, injury or even the presence of one. They range from the simple equipment like the thermometer to complex and large equipment like the x-ray machine. The larger the diagnostic machine the less the quantity needed and the less it will need to be replaced. Diagnostic equipment includes stethoscopes, scanners, MRI machines as well as weighing scales. A stethoscope can be used to diagnose diseases of the respiratory system like bronchitis, tuberculosis and emphysema. Scanners and MRI machines are used to diagnose the diseases of the internal organs. The latter is used for the brain and can diagnose and arrest diseases like cancer.

The beneficial equipments also range from the simple to the complex ones. They are primarily used to treat patients. These are the majority of hospital equipment and are the ones needed in large quantities. Some of these can only be used once by the doctor e.g. surgical gloves and scalpels and syringes. Others are sterilized so that they can be used over and over again e.g. surgical tools and dental surgery tools. The smaller they are, the less they can be reused; therefore, the need to ensure a steady supply e.g. scalpels and syringes. Chemotherapy radiation equipment, used for the management and treatment of cancer, is also valuable beneficial equipment. Hospitals also need accessories like curtains most of which are provided by medical equipment suppliers.

Hospital equipment supplies are made by the manufacturers of these equipment and some of them are sold to the hospitals though the internet. Well established hospitals have long standing relationships with suppliers. The supply of medical equipment has to be constant so that the patients are treated well. There are patients who may need syringes for their own medication e.g. diabetes patient; some of these may be bought from the suppliers of medical equipment.
