Machinery and equipment are the basis of our industrialization and as such contributes to our development in a major way. Since the beginning of the agrarian revolution, man has learned to make good use of equipment to make work easier. Among some of the first equipments that man used to reduce the work load were twigs and crude garden tools which saw to the success of the agrarian revolution.

At the onset of the industrial revolution, many people had come to appreciate the importance of machinery in the process of doing work and as such, more concentration was geared towards the making of better machinery to assist in making light work. This is simply a testimony to the role that machinery and equipment have played in the development of mankind from the crude and unpredictable lifestyle to a steady and comfortable lifestyle. Considering the amount of development that has taken place since the introduction of the first machinery to date, it is quite clear that machines have evolved a lot and many more will continue to be developed.

The design of machineries and equipment differ largely depending on the main purpose behind their making. When making a machine or any equipment, the process should start by the presentation of a design problem from which the designer will try to offer a solution in the design. To date this system has not changed and it is not about to change. If machines and equipment are to serve that purposes for which they are intended, then they have to be objective. Any body going into the market to look for machinery always has an objective to meet and this objective is the driving force that determines the machinery or equipment that you will eventually buy.

Finding the right machinery for the right job can be a daunting task at times. The challenge is even greater when the job you want the machinery to do is new and no such ideas have been advanced before, you might find yourself faced with the task of designing your equipment form scratch, a task that is not always very easy depending on other prevailing factors at the time. An important point to note is that most equipment is readily available in areas where their need has been proven to be high. It is however possible to get machinery and equipment from different parts of the world since most of the manufacturers know that their productions may be useful in far away places and as such have put measures in place to ensure that the equipment and machinery can reach any destination.
