Laboratory Test Equipment

Laboratory test equipment can be a broad term for numerous products found in a laboratory. A lab is any place that scientific experiments are held. Scientific experiments can be related to biology, chemistry or other industries. Typically, a lab is thought to be the biology or chemistry type though. The laboratory test equipment offered in a lab will vary depending on the experiments and research being conducted.

An example of a laboratory test could be a blood test. A patient goes to the doctor with a suspected illness, but it is unknown as to what that illness is. The doctor gets a blood donation, which is sent to a lab. The lab uses laboratory test equipment to determine what could be ailing the patient. A series of tests are run on the laboratory test equipment.

One test might simply be to use a test tube, solvent, and some of the blood. The laboratory test equipment in this case is fairly simple. However, it could be more complicated than that. One might need to run the blood in a centrifuge to separate certain aspects from the blood such as getting the plasma separate from the blood. In this case, the lab will have a highly expensive piece of equipment that will take certain test tubes.

Laboratory test equipment can include scales, pipettes, wavelength machines, ventilation hoods for harmful chemicals and more. Even a Bunsen burner can be considered laboratory test equipment. In biology, you might not find as many machines like the centrifuge in the lab.

You might find other testing equipment such as microscopes, Petri dishes, and measuring laboratory test equipment. All of the equipment sold for labs is going to help in an experiment in some way. There are plenty of companies that will sell the test equipment. Most labs will have a specific place they receive their test equipment from. They may also buy used equipment. Colleges and universities are a good example of this. They do not always have the funding for new items thus; they pick up used equipment where they can. Testing equipment has to be calibrated after purchase like scales. ?
