Pendant lighting is not a preferred option for bathroom lighting. Most modern households are now using bathroom ceiling light fixtures. It is essential that we ensure we have not only appropriate but also enough lighting in our bathrooms.

Bathroom ceiling lights are nowadays available in all designs, shapes and sizes. However, while considering our tastes, we should try to consider how practical these light fixtures can be in our bathrooms. This does not mean that you should compromise on visual appeal; the lighting should also match with your bathroom décor.

There are a number of factors we should consider when selecting lighting fixtures for the bathroom to ensure that they are beautiful and at the same time practical.

First, consider the brightness of the lighting fixture. The bathroom should be bright enough fro you to see every corner. Also, they are important so that you can see yourself in the mirror when using the bathroom. Dim bathrooms also tend not to be hygienic; when your bathroom is bright, it is easier to notice certain places that perhaps you forgot while cleaning.

Multiple lights are good for people who are used to a little shade. If you do not like light that penetrates too much, install multiple lights to have sufficient brightness and still have darker shades.

It is also important to know the important places where to place lighting in the bathroom. Place a light above the wash basin looking glass; one near the toilet and also above the bath tub. This way, you will be assured of getting sufficient light in all the right places. You can share lighting between the bath tub and the toilet.

Some people like color lights. However, these lights may change the real color of other things and may be confusing and stressful to the eyes. Bright yellow and white lights are the best for the bathroom.

Most people do not find the lighting in their bathrooms satisfying mostly because they do not consider all these key aspects.

By changing the lighting in your bathroom, you can change the entire look and ambiance in your bathroom. There is an easy way in which you can change your lighting yourself.

First, turn off the electrical box and use a circuit tester to ensure that there is no active current. Then, install the mounting bracket where the lighting fixture will be. Connect the wiring, one white wire to another, by twisting and screwing a wire nut. Do the same for the black and copper wires.

Now install the mounting screws for the fixture and rotate it over the screws to hold it in place. Make sure the screws are tightened to secure the fixture. The shades and the light bulbs can now be installed. Turn the power back on and voila!
