Perhaps, most of you know that large bathrooms are not really fashionable at the moment. You probably have seen that most of the families, especially in the USA prefer using small and compact bathroom cabins. They could be made out of different materials but there is no doubt that the most spread material for those shower-cabins is glass.

However, there is no surprise that the glass for making such cabins is not the same like the glass used for windows. So, it would be totally wrong if you expected to see a shower-cabin in the bathroom which reminds of a square whose walls are four windows. Things are actually quite complicated and the glass used for those cabins is really special.

You do not need a genius to figure it out that the use of what we call ordinary glass is unacceptable when we talk about bathroom shower glass. There are many reasons for claiming that statement and if we had to count all of them, the list would be really endless. However, you are going to be informed about some of the main reasons why the shower glass is so special.

Firstly, it needs to be much stronger than the glass which is used for making windows. Probably, you understand that the “contact” with the shower glass is much more different than the “contact” with windows. Actually, when you think about it, windows are only cleaned and the glass just could not “get harmed”. At the same time, while taking a shower, many people like to lean against the backside of the shower cabin, which could be fatal if the glass was not strong. So, the conclusion is that the bathroom shower glass is processed and tempered in a very different way so that it could be unbreakable. Most of you have probably noticed that sometimes the shower glass could even look as if it had been made of something between plastic and glass- that material is actually the best one for the so called shower cabins.

The glass’ strength is a very important characteristic but there is something which we should not forget also- that is the safety. Perhaps, you understand that if shower glass breaks, risk of injuries is huge and in some cases it could be even fatal! Fortunately, that problem is saved also. When meant for bathroom, glass is designed in a special way so that even if it gets broken, it will not crush into millions of small pieces but it will just crack! That means that there will not be pieces of glass all over the floor which could cause many injuries. It sounds great, don’t you think so?
