Kids and the great outdoors go hand in hand. Most children want nothing more than to be outside, whether playing with other children, taking a walk, or just exploring. There are so many activities to do with kids outdoors that the possibilities are endless.

Let's start with infants and toddlers. Now, it might seem too hard or complicated to do outdoor activities with infants and toddlers, but you could strap an infant on your back and take a walk through the woods, or put them in a stroller and go for a jog. You could even take your little one for a bike ride and when they get older, not only will they want to do outdoor activities with their children, but they will also have fond memories of doing these things with their parents.

As your children get older, of course, they will want to do things differently, for instance, they may want to finger paint or collect rocks. Gardening is always a good idea for children, not only does it teaches them how to grow fresh fruits and vegetables, but also shows them responsibilities. Children that are a little older enjoy fishing, swimming, and even hunting.

It is a proven fact that children who play outside are less likely to get in trouble in school or at home. They are less likely to be depressed, have improved social skills, and less likely to be obese or get diabetes. Spending time outdoors will teach children that they need to care for the environment so that it will continue to prosper.

There are corn mazes that can be explored in the fall and hills to climb in the summer. Camping out at the park with parents or in the back yard with friends, this can be one activity that will not soon be forgotten. Childhood memories are still made by playing those age old games like; kickball, flashlight tag, red light, green light, hide and go seek, swing the statue, sneaky sprinkler, hopscotch, horse basketball, red rover, four square balls, and shadowing. Children still make new rules to these old games and create new games as well.

There are other things that kids can do outdoors like collect leaves and rocks or bugs, they can go snowboarding or sled riding in the winter, and on a picnic in the summer. All outdoor activities will create childhood memories and improve physical and emotional health.
