It is necessary to use infrared propane heaters with care - one must use good quality heaters and also faithfully observe all the instructions in the user’s manual. Similarly, if something goes wrong, unless one knows how to set it right, it is better not to experiment but to call for experienced help – even if the cost is a little high, it is worth the money being paid.

When one decides to purchase an infrared propane heater, it is better to buy it from a large store which houses most reputed brands so that one can make an informed choice. Also check if the seal showing that it has been approved by a standardization organization is there since if it, and then you can be rest assured that its reliability is not in question. Even if this is a little more expensive, it is worth paying a little more for some peace of mind, since especially when it comes to heaters, gas stoves, geysers, one is dealing with electricity of high voltage so if something goes wrong, the consequences could be disastrous.

When getting ready to use it, please read the manual carefully and follow the instructions meticulously. When on a camping trip and you decide to use your infrared propane heater, look for some smell which is like that of rotten eggs since if you do detect such a smell, then it means that there is some propane which is leaking and one needs to be careful. Propane is a colorless gas hence it is extremely important to look out for such a smell since that is one way to detect if there is some leakage. Another way to check if there is some leakage, is to apply a soapy solution around the propane heater - if you see bubbles, it means that there is leakage of propane – actually, using this method, will be useful to detect most sorts of gas leakages.

When using the infrared propane heater inside your camping tent, make sure that there is sufficient space around it – it would be ideal to keep approximately nine inches at the side, about two to three feet at the top and about three feet in front.

Also, make sure that there is sufficient ventilation inside the tent where you are keeping the infrared propane heater - the reason is that however good the propane heater may be there will always be small quantities of carbon monoxide, which happens to be a by- product of combustion and if there is no sufficient supply of fresh air coming in the tent, it could be hazardous for your health especially if you happen to be asleep for long periods of time.
