A device, which is used to heat an enclosed room or area, is called a space heater. It can be also called as room heater or auxiliary heater or just portable heaters. These heaters are either electrical heaters or gas heaters. Electrical heaters consume a lot of electricity and hence it becomes more costly to use them. Gas heaters heat the space/room using natural gas as fuel. Types of heaters include hydrogen space heaters, kerosene heaters, propane heaters, halogen space heaters etc. 

Types of Propane Heaters:

Propane heaters use propane gas as a fuel. The types of propane heaters include radiant type heaters and circulation type heaters. In radiant type, infrared objects are heated which in turn heat the surrounding air. In circulation type propane heaters, a fan or convention is used to directly to heat the air. Propane gas heaters can be also classified as vented and unvented heaters. The low cost heaters, which are suitable for heating small rooms such as living rooms, are called as unvented heaters. These heaters are not suitable to be used in bathrooms, bedrooms, or confided spaces because there is always danger of catching fire. There is also possibility of the accumulation of unwanted flue gases in the surrounding at high levels. 

Propane heater and its uses:

Propane heaters are used to heat those areas, which are not well insulated. Pressurized gas is used for heating purpose. It is used to heat areas such as warehouses, patios, and garages.  Many portable propane heaters are available so they can be carried along wherever we go. They are also self-contained and hence there is no need of hooking to external electricity or external gas lines. Construction business, event planners, mechanical workshops, and homeowners prefer propane space heaters for lot of applications and purposes. 

Size and ratings:

A portable propane space heater comes in many different verities and   shapes. It comes in different strength and size. The BTU i.e. British thermal unit rates the strength of each heater to measure the output strength of the heater. Usually portable propane heaters do not need electricity. They are lit with the help of match, which is attached to propane-filled tanks.  These heaters have wheels attached to them for easy transportation. Some are tall in size and have a hooded shield to reflect heat downwards. Some are like box and called as radiant heater and they do the heating by circulating warm air. They are also called as convention heaters.
