The use of chandeliers can be said to be traditional. They do not envision modernity where they are hung; but with the various improvements by modern day designers, they have acquired some sense of novelty.

There are many types of chandeliers in the market that have been made in exquisite designs. You may have down- lighters. These are the ones that have the bulbs fixed from up so that they face downward. Up- lighters are fixed with their bases facing down so that the light is above the base. Also, there are those that are cone-shaped while others are Danish, Italian or even American in design.

Most chandeliers have a three light arrangement, but there are those that have more like five, six, nine, twelve so on and so forth, even as many as fifty six. The more they are, the more elegant they will be. Those that have so many lights come in tiers. When they are hanged, they appear as an upside down cake. Not all chandeliers have to be hanged as in some places you find them fixed so that they appear sited; in this case, they have the appearance of an upright cake. As mentioned earlier, the designs have grown more complex over the years. A look around the shops will reveal this. For instance, you might find a chandelier that has the design of a flower with the centre having the bulb and then having glass petals. This is then completed with metal leaves. The petals may have different designs and colors while the metallic leaf part may be painted green to make it look real. As for the flower part, there is always some space left between the bulb and glass petals to allow the light room to radiate.

Chandeliers can be used both indoors and outdoors. One may think it fine to use an indoor light outdoors. It seems alright and of no gross consequence, but experts advice against this. The reason for this is that the indoor types are not made to withstand outside elements. For instance, snow and rain drops may be made to travel further sideways by strong wind getting to the light even when the light is stationed at roofed place. As it is well known, water and electricity do not mix and one may suffer an electric shock ending up hospitalized or even worse, dead. Three light chandeliers are ideal for normal use as they do not require huge spaces and use less power yet provide the elegance of a chandelier.
