1. Switch off the light when not in use: You should not leave the torch on during the day or while you are asleep. In fact, you can use the fire lighting and preserve for the emergency needs only. If it is a cell phone, you can switch off. It is a great idea to leave a voice message to alert your callers about your whereabouts. Avoid playing games out in the wilderness; you can use the cell phone light when you need it only.

2. Charge the battery properly way in advance: You should ensure that the battery is full before you disconnect from the source in readiness for an outdoor stay. Even though the camping sites are well advanced, it is a good idea to be ready for a long stay outside. You can bring with you a spare battery lighting as well. This will keep you going for longer if you have plans to stay for a long time.

3. If you are using the batteries for the home security, you should have a good source of power to charge them. It is unwise to buy a battery while you do not have even access to electricity. You should have an idea about what you want to use the lighting; for example, you can use it on emergency cases say when there is a blackout, always recharge after the use once the power comes back.

Batteries are a good alternative which extends the lighting services independent of whether there is electricity or not. You can get the batteries from a local shop or buy them together with the lighting. Some are inherent and conserve the charge as you use it but cannot go off in case the electricity goes off.
