Fluorescent ceiling lights can be used in any room where you want to provide an excellent light source without using a lot of energy. Fluorescent light panels can add style to the ceiling in the kitchen, basement or work area. Fluorescent lighting is created through compressed gases in a tube with a phosphorus coating. A chemical reaction occurs with the electrical reaction resulting in the phosphorus coating to radiate. This produces a white light that is less stressful to the eyes, provides a brighter illumination and is energy efficient. The typical fluorescent light fixture comes in a rectangle shape which is purposely designed to fit the tubes that will be inside. Most are designed with a metal body and a plastic covering. If being used in an area such as kitchen where you prefer to have some decoration to the light fixture, there are panels available with designs etched onto the covering. They add a tremendous amount of light and when used with the decorative panel will add design to the area.

There are many styles of panels to fit into the metal body including a stained glass look. There are panels with simple designs and some with quite intricate designs. Though the fixtures can be used in any room in the home they are generally used in a garage, basement, work area and kitchen. They will prevent glare and bright light which could be responsible for headaches when you are straining your eyes to read or sew under a standard bulb light fixture.

Fluorescent ceiling light fixtures are very easy to find at inexpensive prices. If there is not a home improvement store in your area, they can also be purchased online. They are very easy to install requiring usually only a screwdriver as the primary tool needed. The complete lighting fixture could be installed and ready to go in less than a couple of hours. When searching online it is necessary to check the shipping charges, these fixtures are relatively lightweight but this could increase the price. If possible it will be less expensive to purchase them from a home improvement or department store.
