Low Voltage Track Lighting

Low voltage track lighting can be applied, whether you are building a new home or want to upgrade the track lighting you currently have in the house. There are several advantages of low voltage track lighting, the greatest one being that they lower your energy bills by a large percentage. Before you buy any low voltage track fixtures, ensure that they will fit in your tracks. Different types of tracks require different track fixtures. If you are unsure of the type of tracks in your house, have someone from the lighting company come and help you fix the lights. If you are buying the tracks yourself, choose Juno, Halo or Lightolier brands. These are the three top quality low voltage track lighting that you can get. Other brands are available too, but they are not of high quality. They may be cheaper; unfortunately, they do not have much of a shelf life.

To power your low voltage track fixtures, you can use a power cord from the track lighting and connect it to an electric outlet. A second method to power your track lighting is by connecting though a power supply attached to a junction box. A live connector or canopy connector will be necessary to connect the track fixture to the junction box. This gives the lighting both functionality and beauty. An inbuilt transformer converts the line voltage into low voltage. You can have several fixtures on a track, depending on the total wattage you intend to use.

There are many contemporary low voltage track lighting kits to choose form. A popular type is the recessed adjustable low voltage. It is composed of recess housing and has one or more low voltage lighting rails which can be fixed or adjusted. Low voltage lamps are then mounted on the lighting tracks or along their length. They are then connected to a low voltage power supply. Other accessories that enhance low voltage track lighting include track suspension kits and special lenses. Track suspension kits enable you to hang the track from high ceilings such as lofts. Special lenses are used to change the color and/or shape of the light.

Low voltage track fixtures mostly use MR16 or MR11 bulbs. You can use bulbs that give off wide beam angles or small ones. You can also use a combination of both small and large beam angles, which enables both specific and general lighting.
