This is something new to the US; the Photo enforcement is being used in the Europe and Australia for more than 20 years now. There are wire censors to which the cameras that are more than 10 feet tall and approximately 70 feet abaft the intersection are connected. On the roadways, the censors are installed at the cuts. The electromagnetic field is created by the electricity that runs through the same wires the camera is then triggered by the vehicles that run over the same wire by creating interference in the magnetic field of electricity that these wires create. Another important and interesting thing about the red light enforcement will be to see how the photo enforcement works.

An obvious question will come to your mind that how do the cameras decide that of which driver or the car the picture has to be taken. Well, at a distance of few meters away from the cameras there is another network of the wire. This network helps to record the speed of the car driving past the red light enforcement. If the speed is above the mentioned limit then the cameras are triggered automatically and two pictures of the car are taken. This is possible because of the viewfinders in the cameras. These viewfinders have the capacity to cover the entire area of the intersection. The photo that is taken first will mark the car before it could enter into the intersection and the second photo will show the car that is in the intersection.
