Painting is an art and a skill even when repainting kitchen cabinets. Sometimes you may really want to replace your kitchen cabinets, but not have a dime in your account to replace the wood; and besides if the wood could be hardwood and precious in your sight, what is the need of replacing it?

Repainting the kitchen cabinets will go a long way in giving the kitchen a new look. You need skills do the work so that it turns out just perfect. If you have never held a painting brush before, here is how you go about repainting your kitchen cabinet. You may need a few hundred dollars to change them from being an eyesore to eye candy.

When repainting kitchen cabinets, you need to clear your way and smoothen your job; make sure you have removed any coating on the kitchen surface. Remove the varnish and the other coats of paint using a solvent. Remove the nails, screws, door knobs and door handles. Formica covering should be removed as well so that you have bare wood. Sand the wood to remove the rough edges. Smoothen out the corners of the kitchen cabinets. When you are through with this part, you will have gotten through the hardest part; and here comes the easy part:

Seal off all the parts you want to protect from paint e.g. the countertops and the floor. Use duct tape on the surrounding surfaces of the carbines and newspapers or old clothing to cover the floors. Clear off this area and make sure you have invested in good quality paint brushes and paint so that your work is smooth. You can use spray paint to make your work even easier. Coat the cabinets with paint several times and leave them to dry. The gloss paint and enamel based paints should dry out in a matter of minutes. If you are too busy to do this by yourself, get a painter to do it for you. It is going to cost you a little bit extra, but you will have the work professionally done. You can get professional painters by consulting with professional contractors or home improvement specialists and ask them for a recommendation.
