Restore Kitchen Cabinets

Most of the kitchen cabinets are made from wood and hence these cabinets are easily covered with dust, grease and grime due to the cooking activity that takes place in the kitchen. We generally tend to touch the kitchen cabinets with our wet or greasy hands or if there are kids in the house the cabinets are surely going to get dirty with water or at times even food spilling over them. A routine clean up with some mild detergent and water is required to keep them fresh. However, in cases where the cabinet has been damaged with some scratches or something like that then special care has to be taken.

Restoring kitchen cabinets can be done in numerous ways. As mentioned if it is only about cleaning the dirt and grime then all you need to do is scrub that area with some good cleaner, rinse that area and then dry it using a dry towel. There are different types of cleaning materials available in the market for keeping your kitchen cabinets hygienic. If it is only cleaning then the restoring process can be carried out using minimal tools and your kitchen cabinets can look new as before. Whatever product you use to clean the cabinets just make sure to dry them up quickly because the cabinets are made from wood and sooner or later moisture could accumulate and wood tends to get damaged with this.

Just follow these few basic steps for restoring your kitchen cabinets.

* Identify the cabinets you need to clean. Just remove these cabinet doors by opening the screws. Make sure to fix the right doors to the cabinets when you are done with the restoring process. You can keep a tab by just marking them with some colors.

* Take off the handles from the doors and clean them with soapy water.

* Now you can clean the cabinet doors and frames with detergent or a wood cleaner.

* If there are any rough spots, lightly sand them with sandpaper.

* Rinse them off with clean water and finally dry them with a clean towel.

* Once dry, you can apply wood restoration products that are available which help to clear the area that is stained and makes that area look like the rest of the wood.

* Lastly apply a coat of any wood oil to the kitchen cabinets.

* You can now clean the handles and fix them up too.
