What do you need to know when you are looking for when you want a good lumbar support office chair? This is where you will be sitting for many hours each day, so what do you need to know about it.

The first things you need to know is what adjustments the chair has and are these the type of adjustments that you need. If you have specific problems now you will need to be able to adjust to correct for those problems. A lumbar support chair is designed to stop the natural slouch that we all have and that can cause bad problems if we do them too long. If the chair is poorly designed and doesn’t adjust right you won’t get the support that you need.

The next thing you should always look at is the gas pump. The gas pump is used to regular the height of the chair and, on some ergonomic chairs it can adjust for forward and back movement also. All ergonomic chairs should have a gas pump. Make sure to check it out before you leave the store to make sure that the pump allows you do adjust the chair the way that you need it.

Number three on your list is design. Is this chair been designed for long term heavy use? How will it hold out when compared to the price? Is the cushioning well made from good sturdy materials? These are all design issues and should be addressed.

Finally there is price. If you are willing and able to hand out several thousand dollars you can get the finest chair on the market. Most of us aren’t that guy though so we work with a budget. Good ergonomic chairs will cost anywhere from $300-$1500 and obviously the higher on that scale, the more features the chair has. A decent chair should have at least four types of adjustments. It should adjust for height, body position, arm rest, angle.
