Leather Side Chairs

Leather side chairs are dining room chairs with out arms.  Leather side chairs come in a variety of fabric and leather.  Some familiar styles of side chairs bergere, Chippendale, ladder back, Windsor, and parsons.  Most have a straight back and seat that are smooth.  The differences in the styles are:

* bergere – these have a wooden frame with a cane back and French in origin

* Chippendale – usually have curvy designs in the wood back and a seat that is upholstered

* ladder back – horizontal slats that are wooden and a seat that is upholstered

* Windsor – wooden solid, curved bar at the top that connects round dowels to the seat

* parsons – the seat and back are usually smooth and straight

Your leather side chairs are available in a number of different woods, for instance: Mahogany, alder, walnut, and cherry.  They are also available in plastics, cane, and metal.  Sometimes the backs cushion is removable.  Leather side chairs could be considered to be more durable than the others because they will not absorb liquids or foods from spills, making them easier to clean.

Side chairs are designed with space in mind.  They do not take up as much room as the dining chairs with arms.  When you have a small table and need more chairs the leather side chairs are designed to give you more room.

When choosing your leather side chairs you will need to take into consideration the height of your table.  You should make sure that side chairs are at least 10 to 12 inches lower than your dining table.  Remember to include the seat height of your chair when taking measurements; you will also need to measure any apron that may be on your table.

Leather side chairs can feature intricate scrolling details done in gold accents across the top of your chairs, or you may prefer a heavier chair that has an oval back with fan shapes carved into the curve of the top of the chair.  You may decide to go with a straight back leather side chair that has the fence design.  Maybe a sleeker image is what you want to have in your dining chairs.  You can achieve this look with a set of classic chairs with a wooden slate on the back and intricate side ends on the top that are curled.

Prices can range from $300 and up.
