Rocking Chair Back

Rocking chairs are believed to have been around since the 1700's.  The first rocking chair was originally used as a garden chair.  It was created at Windsor Castle and the back of the rocking chair appeared like a bird cage because the spindles of the back were in the shape of a hoop.  Of course, the Windsor was crafted out of wood, but after it came into existence, there have been numerous variants of rocking chairs.  Rocking chairs made of wicker came after the birth of the Windsor, and even rocking chairs that glide.

Because the people of England used the first rocking chairs in their gardens, the rocking chair has become a symbol of enjoyment and relaxation.  Americans place rocking chairs on their porches to relax in after a hard day of work and enjoy the evening breezes.  It is said that the idea of the rocking chair came from the rocking ability of a baby cradle.  Mothers often look for rocking chairs with comfortable backs to soothe their babies to sleep and while nursing.

Rocking chairs are now crafted from everything from wood, to metal, to PVC pipe, all of which, have their own unique rocking chair backs.  The back of the rocking chair is an important part of the chair since it must be comfortable and graceful.  You can get rocking chair backs with your name on them or a cut-out of a heart or hummingbird.  Just about anything you can imagine can go onto the rocking chair back.  Carvings, flowers, birds, names and numbers all are available for your rocking chair back.  If you prefer to have it plain, you can just get one that has polyurethane to show off the natural, beautiful, wood designs

There are bentwood rockers, goose neck rockers all with their own delicate, intricate features that make them special.  Rocking chair backs are designed with comfort in mind and are as comfortable as they are elegant.  They offer leather upholstery or brass accents.  Most rocking chair backs are durable and have become a common household fixture.  Rocking chairs are widely associated with babies and infants because of their gently swaying motion that is known to soothe babies, even during pregnancy.

Rocking chair backs are now available with materials of many varieties:  Natural dyed fabrics, leathers, upholstery, or natural wood with delicate carvings.  The goose neck rocking chair back has been a founding father of more than rocking chair backs.
