Outdoor Recessed Lights

Outdoor recessed lighting is a great simple way to add a touch of lighted elegance to the outdoor living area. When your family and friends have a space to gather around outdoors it adds an area for breezy summer days to be spent outside. When the perfect lighting is used it adds a great ambiance to any area. An outside porch or deck with recessed lighting instantly becomes cosier.

Outdoor lighting should be built with materials that keep it protected from the elements while adding an illumination that is soft and not blinding by contrasting against the dark nights. There are many styles such as the aluminium that has been treated with a special chemical to prevent rust or corrosion. There are many different styles of metal the lights can have but the standard comes in black, gray or white. They can have a thin cover over the bulb or purchased without a covering.

A majority of the outdoor recessed lighting fixtures have a UV resistance to them as well which protects the unit from sun damaged discolorations. The preferred lights for outdoors should be those with a soft glow as a bright light can be harsh on the eyes. Recessed lights are great for producing the type of soft illuminations required for exterior lighting.

When installing lights they should be in areas that will not cause obstruction or have a chance of becoming damaged from a swinging door or other accidents. Space the recessed lights approximately three to five feet apart for the optimum benefits and to avoid having excessive amounts of light. In smaller areas you will probably only need to install one or two fixtures.

When placing bulbs in the lights it is recommended to use a low voltage and energy efficient bulbs. The energy efficient will last longer than a standard bulb saving the time of constantly having to climb a ladder and they will help to keep the electricity bill to a minimum.

Recessed lightly can also be used in places other than a ceiling and make great accessories for the sides of fencing around a pool or deck. Also use recessed lighting in the garden area to add a beautiful illumination to your prized flower garden. When placing outdoor recessed lights in areas such as flooring or fencing sides, be careful to place them in areas where they will not sustain damage from walking or storing items up against them.
