You will want to make yourself familiar with your Bernzomatic propane torch before you attempt to use it.  Read your owner’s manual, it will offer tips for the safest and easiest way to use your new torch.  You will want to work in an area that is well ventilated and free of combustibles such as gasoline.  It is a good idea to have a fire extinguisher and/or a bucket of water nearby when using your Bernzomatic propane torch.

After making sure that you have the burner nozzle tightly screwed on to the propane cylinder.  Holding your Bernzomatic propane torch in one hand, turn the adjustment knob to the on position.  When you hear the hissing sound indicating that the propane is flowing correctly, squeeze your flint striker to light your torch with the sparks that the flint striker will create.  Adjust the flame to the height you desire.  Make sure that you do not tip your cylinder more than 60 degrees to prevent torch flare-ups.

After you have finished your job, turn the knob to the off position and set in an area that is safe from pets and children.  Allow your nozzle to cool completely before you store your Bernzomatic propane torch.

Always use your flint striker to light the Bernzomatic propane torch and be extra careful if you use it outside on bright sunny days because it will be harder to see the flame.   You will want to watch the wind on windy days as well, because the flame can blow back at you.  Try to prevent dropping your propane torch so that you do not break the nozzle, dent, or puncturing the cylinder.  Dropping your propane torch may cause the cylinder to explode causing you severe damage.
