Propane Heater Regulator

Propane heaters are widely used for many applications; they are efficient and are considered to be durable. Propane tanks are used to connect to stoves and other types of heating devices, the device uses the fuel from the propane tank to do the work of heating.

It is essential for a stove or any heating device to have a heat controller, variable amount of heat is preferred for different purposes, and hence there is the need for a regulator to control the amount of heat in the heating device. All the stoves or heaters have got regulators these days; most of them are like a knob which adjusts the amount of fuel that enters from the propane gas tank to the stove or heater. These regulators are also known as LP regulators which mean liquefied petroleum; they are available in hardware stores and also in the general purpose stores. They can be used as an external device; it often resembles a rubber tube.

One end of the regulator is attached to the propane tank and the other can be fitted to a stove, propane torch, heater, and refrigerator or for other applications. The normal regulator comes in a size that fits almost all the commonly available propane tanks such as 10-100lb, there may be a change in the size of the connecting regulator tube for tanks greater than 250lbs. the length of a standard propane heater regulator is about 12 feet, these regulators can handle high pressure.

The end connectors of the regulator tube are made of metal, most preferably brass. There is a hand wheel in the tube which is used for tightening which works as a valve, the two ends of the tube are known as the male and female connectors. There are different kinds of regulators that are available based on the pressure of the tank. A normal regulator cannot hold the pressure of a propane fuel tank which is more than 20lbs. There are many durable quality regulators available for the propane based heaters, the cost of a good regulator ranges anywhere from 25-40$. The regulator tube is made of a high quality rubber which can withstand pressure, sometimes even a gauge can also be attached to the regulator to see the amount of fuel left in the propane gas tank. It is good to check the regulator before buying to assure that there is no complaints of leakage.
