Used Propane Refrigerators
Propane refrigerators are effective technology that is based on eco-friendly principles. This type of refrigerator is a must have for those people who are prone to frequent power shortages. This is because they are not affected by power cuts since they operate on propane.
A propane refrigerator is also referred to as an absorption refrigerator. Unlike the common electrical fridges, this one uses a propane burner to power its pump. Most of these models are very portable since they are designed in a number of sizes. This advantage makes it the most favored choice for those who prefer outdoor activities. The fact that they are eco-friendly only goes to add to the reasons why people dream of owning them.
The cooling system found in these types of fridges is not complicated at all. Ammonia is the coolant used with propane refrigerators. To create a continuing refrigeration system, the ammonia is used together with water and hydrogen gas. The parts of a propane refrigerator are similar to those in other refrigeration systems.
The fridge functions as follows:
* The propane burner found beneath the generator heats the generator. The generator usually contains a mixture of ammonia and water. The heat applied on the generator brings the ammonia to a boiling point.
* When the solution boils, it is transported to the separator. The movement takes place via a pipe.
* Once in the separator, the mixture is separated into ammonia gas and water. The separation is made possible by the materials difference in molecular weight.
* The ammonia gas rises. The gas is then directed into the condenser. The water is taken to the absorber.
* The condenser makes possible the dissipation of the ammonia’s heat and condenses it back to liquid. The liquid ammonia is sent to the evaporator.
* In the evaporator, the ammonia is mixed with compressed hydrogen gas. The result is the freezing vapor found inside the fridge.
* During this time, the generator is continuously building pressure to pump vapor through the fridge’s cooling coils.
* As the vapor is running through the coils, it is taken into the absorber. Here the vapor is condensed into water. The water is then mixed with the ammonia and sent to the generator. Hydrogen gas goes to the evaporator and the cycle continues.
Propane fridges do not require frequent cleaning. All you need to do is clean the flue tube and burner area at least annually. Maintenance of these fridges is at a bare minimal since they do not have compressor units. They also do not require a constant supply of electricity since they do not have batteries that need recharging. In case you are financially constrained, you can opt to buy used propane refrigerators. A used fridge that has been well maintained will offer you good service.
