Iron Propane Stove
Dr. Walter Snelling first identified the volatile properties of Propane as far back as 1910. In fact, on March 31 the same year, New York Times talked about Dr.Snelling’s discovery, as “a steel bottle will carry enough to light an ordinary home for three weeks”.
Arthur Kerr. Frank Peterson and Chester Kerr worked closely with Dr. Snelling to refine naturally available gasoline to make Liquefied Petroleum Gases. Therefore, American Gasol Company was born. In 1912, Frank Peterson patented another way of making LP Gas by compressing it.
1947 onwards, many homes in the United States used propane or natural gas for cooking purposes. Propane’s boiling point is very low so it makes it ideal to be used in Iron stoves as it vaporizes fast. What makes them convenient for cooking in the patio or campouts are that it is portable, extremely easy to use, with a flame that you can adjust. They are extremely efficient in their use of energy; there is no fear of spills as the propane tanks are sealed. What makes them extremely safe is the fact that the propane in it is stored in a tank that is adequately pressurized, and is in vapor form. When compared to liquid fuel stoves, iron propane stoves are far more economical. If you have to buy one, choose one that is reasonably priced without cutting corners. They emit less smoke, making them eco-friendly and are available with refills.
Iron Propane stoves are heavier than the steel ones and are usually used at home or outdoor, if you do not mind carrying a bit of weight.
Typically, these stoves come with two burners or four. There are also modular ones available, which you can fold, but these come with only one burner. The iron propane stoves are preferred by campers as they last long, require very little maintenance and are portable. They also do not consume electricity.
If you have ever wondered who uses it. Take a look at Chinese Woks. They are used for many other purposes as well, in Beer making to heat large cauldrons of soup outdoor bath. Why, it compares well with any commercial stove range too, because it can heat a pot with 20 gallons of water in a record time of 10 minutes instead of an hour on the commercial stove range. Be careful while using them. There is always a risk of setting fire or even poisoning because of carbon monoxide. Ensure that you clear the area of all things that catch fire easily. Like dry leaves and twigs. If inhaled, propane can cause damage to the nervous system or the respiratory system in animals and humans, so make sure you use it in a well-ventilated area.
