You should take it upon yourself to challenge your agency or company and ask for the inaccuracies to be corrected. These include an account that you had that has long been closed.

Fixing errors in your credit report is very easy, when you know what to do. It all has to do with immediate action. Call your credit reporting company and inform them of all the inaccuracies that you have identified. It helps when you can justify your claims, since unfounded ones are just thrown aside. Sometimes you could find these errors in the midst of applying for a loan. That should not stop you from taking action. And while doing this, ensure that the good stuff that could improve your rating is included as well.
