Bathroom And Plumbing

Bathroom and Plumbing always go together as the bathroom has the maximum amount of plumbing fixtures compared to any other room in the house. A bathroom needs a plumbing system which is able to get water into the room and also drain away solid and liquid wastes. If a bathroom does not have the correct plumbing, it will be dysfunctional and cease to have the utility for which it was built.

A bathroom usually consists of a shower and/or bathtub, sink and the toilet. Each of these fixtures has their own set of plumbing requirements. If you are redesigning your bathroom or building a new one, knowledge of plumbing can save you a lot of cost. Bathroom plumbing is not as difficult as it may seem, and by having the right tools and know-how you can create a good bathroom.

Planning and designing the floor space of the bathroom is the first and most important step in bathroom plumbing. You have to decide where you are going to place each fixture and plan the overall layout. Decide on the type of fixtures you will be buying and the size of pipes which will be required to connect these fittings. If the pipe dimensions are different from existing pipes in your house you will need to buy the appropriate connectors. PVC pipes are now mostly used in bathroom and plumbing as they are much easier to handle and work on, compared to lead pipes.

Drawing a complete plan of the layout of different pipes and fixtures will help a great deal in bathroom plumbing. A lot of thought should go into correctly placing the water inlet and drainage pipes. Once it is drawn, this plan will be the blueprint of your plumbing work and you will have to stick to it. Before finalizing the plan make sure the inlets and outlets do not get mixed up and it is preferable to draw them in different colors or as separate plans.

You also have to make sure that your plan for bathroom and plumbing confirms to the building code and you have the necessary permits. If you do not want the hassle of all this you can contract the whole work to a qualified and experienced plumber or a handyman company.

The price of bathroom plumbing will depend on the extent of work. If it just shifting one or two fixtures you can expect to spend around $500 to $600, and if you are redoing the whole bathroom it can cost you a couple of thousand dollars.
