Cost To Remodel Kitchen

Most of the home improvement projects we hear about usually have to do with the kitchen. Being the most frequented room in the house, it’s only fair that it gets remodeling priority. However, a lot goes into giving the kitchen a new look. The thing with kitchen remodeling is that you don’t get an exact figure of how much it will cost you. Instead you get estimates, calculated approximations of the final cost. For a small scale remodeling where you get new cabinets and a few appliances, your budget could be about $15000. But when you want to go the whole nine yards and get a luxury kitchen, you could spend well over $100,000.

There are many areas that will incur costs with your remodel but there are some that definitely take the bigger percentage. The first is the flooring. When you want to redo your entire kitchen floor, you need to dig deep into your pockets. The old one has to be taken out for the new one to be installed. Hardwood like seasoned mahogany to give the rustic appeal does not come cheap. You may choose to go for marble, or brick with a wax finish. It looks great when it’s all done, but it also costs a lot as well.

The kitchen cabinets also take up a fraction of your budget. Since they will use up most of the floor space and some wall space, they are needed in abundance. And the rule is, the bigger your kitchen is, the more the cabinets you will need. Remember your kitchen island might require some cabinets, especially if the kind of design that you want dictates that it be so. Also consider the cost of the countertops. Natural stones like granite are desired because they are not only durable, but also have aesthetic appeal as well. When the countertop stretches across the entire length of cabinet tops, it is important to consider it as an expense on its own.

Consider the cost of new appliances as this is budget intensive as well. New dishwashers, refrigerators, stoves and other smaller appliances like coffee makers, food processors will all add up to one huge sum. You might find yourself spending a couple of thousands of these alone. All additional supplies, like fittings, fixtures and supplies for wiring and plumbing all congregate to one cost. Add labor costs to the equation and you will reach an estimate. Make sure your budget is over this estimate to cover costs you might not have anticipated.
