Used Equipment Dealers

There nearly as many used equipment dealers as there are equipments. Equipments are basically tools and machines we use in our daily lives for both domestic and commercial purposes. Equipments can be classified into several categories depending on functions, sizes, modes of operation among other things. And again one is likely to find dealers for many of these equipments.

Dealers in used equipment often double up as dealers in used equipment of the same models they sell. One reason that makes this possible is the fact that with dealership usually comes servicing requirements. Manufacturers prefer to make arrangements for the dealership staff members to be trained in their products as an aftersales promotion policy. The knowledge of equipment as given by the manufacturers are an advantage to them when dealing with repair and maintenance issues. Dealers often market new equipment by encouraging customers owning old models to trade them in for new ones. It is one way through which such dealers find themselves with inventories of used equipment.

There are individual entrepreneurs who sometimes find it profitable dealing in certain products. These usually have no affiliation to specific manufacturers and /or equipments and may stock and sell anything or brand they come across. Their pricing are often lower than the kind of dealers mentioned above as they do not have much overhead costs to cover. They are less professional and tend to deal in less complicated used equipments. Their stocking policy is more market driven as compared to the earlier type of dealers whose stocking is manufacturer oriented.

Heavy equipment often present a great challenge to small companies dealing in used equipment. The owners of such equipments in all cases are either wealthy individuals or corporations and organizations who would never consider buying used items nor dealing with less established suppliers. The heavy equipments themselves are highly valued and do valuable jobs which can not afford comprising on quality. Equipments give better value for money and work more reliably when new and tend to loose power and compression as they are used. It is for this reason that equipment buyers with lucrative contracts would not dare investing in equipments that may either delay the job or compromise quality.

On the whole it is the duty of the buyer of used equipment to ascertain the condition of the equipment as this can not be guaranteed by the dealer. Such equipments most of the time are never under warranty from the manufactures since warranties usually last for two years or specified mileage incase of trucking equipments.
