Check Credit Information

A credit check is an action taken by your potential credit lender to establish your creditworthiness. A credit check typically entails looking for a detailed analysis or breakdown from a Credit Check Company or a credit reporting bureau if you like. Check credit information will always contain such things as your date of birth, your current and previous addresses, your social security number, your current employer and your employment history, your current income, and your payment history of loans and any other debts that you might have had.

When check credit information is requested or conducted, your payment history is clearly documented by using items that your creditors have reported to credit bureaus e.g. timely remittances -- or lack thereof. If when you check credit information it reveals you are an individual who is poor at repaying a debt, the charge card or loan may be refused. If in case the credit is approved regardless of a not-so-good credit check, know that the loan amount may reduce significantly, or even the credit limit and the rate of interest might just increase.

Each time you apply for a credit card or a loan, or perhaps even try to obtain financing for the purchase of something, the lender will always request to check your credit information. More often, lenders will request for check credit information from two or more different sources for comparison purposes. Equifax, Trans Union and Experian are the three leading credit bureaus which are mostly and frequently used to check credit information or rather to perform a credit check.

Unless otherwise, each person is entitled to free check credit information once a year from a recognized credit reporting bureau. However, there are some exceptions to when you can seek free check credit information more than once a year – say when you are denied insurance, credit, employment, or your interest rates or fees have parachuted in the last sixty days. What you are required to do is to simply write a detailed letter to the credit bureau of your choice, and ensure you enclose proof of your situation, and you will be able to check your credit information.

It is always advisable to keep track of what is included in your credit information so that you can maintain a good credit not only to help you borrow more money and become a favorite to lenders but so that you can be able to get the best possible rates.
