Whichever product you settle for should be used with caution. Most of these industrial products are very strong and they can cause injury if they are mishandled. The products are mostly made with lye and other strong chemicals that can cause bodily harm.

If you are afraid of using the commercial products, you can try using home made drain cleaners to help clear out the blockage. You can try making a mixture of backing soda and vinegar and using it to clear the blockages. First you should pour ½ a cup of baking powder down the drain. After you have poured in the baking powder, you should proceed with the vinegar. Then let the mixture stand in the drain. After half an hour is over, you can pour a full kettle of boiling water down the bathroom drain. Never use boiling water on PVC drains; instead, you should use hot water.

The water is used to improve on the plunger’s performance by increasing suction. You unblock a drain using a plunger by placing it over the drain and pumping it several times.

If these two home-made solutions fail, then your clog is very bad. The problem might be bigger than residues that found its way down the drain.
