How To Fill Propane

Propane is an alternative to conventional fuel. It is a highly portable energy source which is used as a fuel for some car engines. Propane tanks are used for storing propane gas in its liquid form. This is sometimes called as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). It is commonly used for all sorts of cooking purposes but can also be used for lots of other purposes such as residential central heating, gas torches, etc.

Whenever propane gas gets depleted, you have two options. One is to replace your entire propane tank and the other is to refill the propane tank. The former is very costly but can be done easily and the latter is considerably cheap. So we deal with the latter one in this article.

Before filling propane, you should take a little time to check whether the tank is in good condition. If not, you must definitely replace it since it is very dangerous if propane leaks out. Also, care should be taken to ensure that propane is not stored in a warm place since it is highly combustible.

After ensuring the safety measures, you are now ready to fill propane in your tank. Now, you should locate a nearby refilling station. This is a pretty easy step considering the fact that there are lots of resources available from which you can get the location of your nearest gas filling station. A suitable way to find this would be to refer yellow pages. Also, don’t forget to check your local gas suppliers.

When you have found the nearest gas filling station, enquire them whether they fill consumer propane tanks as most stations handle commercial orders only.

After checking with the gas station, call the service personnel to come and collect the empty tank. If they insist that you should bring the empty tank, then you should take it in a suitable vehicle.

Maintain suitable distance from the gas tank when they fill it with propane. The gas is filled with an immense pressure and so a small leak could prove to be fatal. This is the main reason that holds common people from trying to fill propane all by their own.

Care should be taken while you carry the propane filled tank back to your home. Make sure that the tank stays in a secured position without any tilt. Also, make sure that the security valve remains closed at all time.
