Propane Tank Parts

Propane a byproduct of petroleum during the process of processing of natural gas is a fuel, which is starting to get very popular nowadays due to its advantages. Propane is a three carbon structured alkanet which has a lot of advantages like it could be stored for a long time without getting bad and spoilt and it also does not gum up on storage for a long time. The increasing popularity of propane has got into the market and hence is been stored into many tanks of many capacities. These tanks are being available in many types including those, which can be disposed. There are also tanks, which can be recycled for later uses. Propane is also less costly and prevents the formation of soot in the engine in which it is being used. The tanks which stores propane have a variety of multitudes of parts and other connections about it, they have valves, gauges and other extra parts which are really very complex for a person does not know them to handle. However, the basics of the parts of a propane tank have to be known in order to have an overall idea of what the tank is exactly made up of. These tanks are mostly made up of some metal and some are made up of safe disposable materials too, but every tank has the same basic design. It is necessary for everybody who uses the propane tanks to know the basic components of the tank. One should remember that whatever the size of the tank may be the basic functionality and the components are the same.

The parts can be arranged in the following way, a fill valve comes first, a safety relive valve, service valve, fixed liquid level gauge, float gauge, a nameplate of the manufacturers’, vapor return valve, liquid withdrawal valve. This valve is used for the filling of the propane gas into it; this valve just allows a flow in the same direction. Since this valve can only allow flow from a single direction, it is not an ideal valve to withdraw the gas from it. A safety relive valve is very important since it controls the pressure in the tank. It is a compulsory law to fit the valve in a tank. Its function is to prevent the tank from breaking or cracking under over pressure. Service valve is the valve through which the gas is being extracted out for the use. The level gauge and the float are used for denoting the level of propane in the tank. The vapor return valve is used during the summer seasons. The liquid withdrawal valve is used to evacuate the liquid from the tank.
