Propane Tank Valves

Propane tank valves are an extremely important part of every propane tank. It is what actually allows you to regulate the flames’ strength.

If you have bought a propane tank, you probably know that it is usually included in the price and doubtfully, there is someone who would sell you a tank without a valve! However, you should know that the best valve for your tank would be the one which was included in the set. Unfortunately, you should pay a lot of attention to the quality of your tank valves and check them out regularly due to their great significance. You should be able to notice easily and fast if there are any problems or if they are not working properly.

As soon as you notice a problem with your tank valves, you should get new ones. You should pay special attention to the kind of propane tank you have before buying a new valve. The reason is that each valve is made for a certain model of tank and if you get an improper valve, you will just not be able to install it.

And when it is time for you to change the tank valve, you may also reconsider what kind of a valve you would like to use. Basically, there are two kinds of propane tank valves and both of them have advantages and disadvantages which you need to be familiar with.

The first kind of tank valve is called “switch-on, switch-off” and its name clearly explains what its function is. What the valve can do is just allow you to let the propane pass through the hose assembly and then make it stop flowing. Those valves are cheaper and you can get them if you have a regulator installed in your burners. This way you will still be able to regulate the propane’s flow and will spend less money!

The other kind of tank valves which you may decide to purchase is the regulative-flow one. Those valves look like taps and they do not only let you make the propane flow and stop flowing but they also allow you to regulate the flow’s output. You can use that kind of valves if your burners do not have their own regulators or if the propane tank is connected with any other device which does not have its own regulators!

You should know that both kinds of tank valves which we talked about are not expensive and you can get them for $20. So there is no reason you put off getting a new tank valve. This way you will prevent yourself and your family from problems and dangers such as propane outflow for example.
