However, you may find an all in one multi- meter is the better tool to have. With a multi- meter and wiring diagram, it is easy for an electrical professional to find the source of any issues. There are two types of multi- meters available in the electrical equipment testing category. You have digital or analog. Most individuals prefer digital because it is easy to read and will have an LCD or LED display. Accuracy is a must for testing electrical systems. Still, analog does have its uses depending on your situations.

Before using electrical equipment testing, you should read the instructions and understand the cautions that are involved with electrical components. A multi-meter will test current, resistance and voltage. This allows you to fully diagnose a problem rather than looking for only one issue. When you hook up the electrical equipment testing the circuits you have to understand how it works, and that the resistance can be affected with this meter attached.

An amperage test allows you to see if there is something impeding or resisting the circuits. There can be a slight increase in the current based on the test. Most of the electrical equipment testing electrical components will have an auto range for safety precautions.

The voltage test on the electrical equipment testing will look for a reading of 12 amps. You may also have a different amp to look for based on the type of fuses being used. You might have a 10-amp or 20-amp fuse that you need to read. Lastly, the resistance test with the ohmmeter will tell you if you have no resistance or an issue. You will have to calibrate the system to use it correctly and get the right readings.
