Laminate Flooring In Bathroom

When laminate flooring in bathroom is used you have to follow detailed instructions of the manual and the warranty card. If you install laminate flooring without following the manual, the installation may go wrong damaging the floor arrangement, which in turn the floor warranty void causing you a considerable loss.

You have to buy laminate flooring materials according to the measurement of the floor. Always buy little more than the actual measurement. To laminate flooring in bathroom you need a mask, work gloves, safety glasses, a saw, pencil and a rubber mallet. For some types of laminating floor materials, you may need silicone caulking or glue, and laminate molding, some resin polyethylene film and foam padding.

You have to keep the home laminate flooring materials you bought inside for at least two days. The reason for this is to acclimatize the flooring materials to the current temperature and the humidity. Not keeping them inside for at least two days may make them shrink and warp after the actual flooring is done.

Meanwhile, you can check whether your bathroom floor is suitably prepared for the laminating flooring. You have to clean and level the floor before the actual laminate flooring is done. Don't allow wetness on the floor, as it may cause lamination to warp. Vacuum the floor thoroughly as well to clean dust and debris.

With most laminate flooring materials you have to fully seal in the seams and perimeter with silicon sealant to prevent water seeping from underneath, which may eventually cause severe damage to the new flooring. In addition, you have to keep quarter of inch space from walls, toilets, and transition areas. This space should be filled with sealant to install pieces of laminate flooring. For concrete floors, it is necessary to put 6-mil polyethylene film layer on the floor before laying laminate flooring.

After these initial steps, you have to plan the designs. Determine the pattern you need to laminate before gluing, to do the actual flooring. Mark the excess pieces with the pencil to be cut down. Your designs can take tile, stone or wood facades. Start sawing the pieces outside to avoid dust on the floor again. When sawing, wear protective glasses. Once the pieces are cut clean them to remove dust and bring them inside.

Follow the manufacturers' instruction when snapping and gluing these pieces. The laminate flooring in bathroom require 3/16-inch globule of silicone sealant on the pieces' top rung. Then snap them into place. You can use the rubber mallet to press pieces gently and lock them fully.
